Recently, we asked our customers what they thought about using CBD for sleep. We know that improved sleep is one of the main reasons that people use CBD, and we wanted to learn if this cannabinoid is truly useful for sleep disorders and overall sleep quality.

The results of our survey were very encouraging. Not only do Naia customers believe CBD is useful for sleep, but they even provided feedback regarding which types and doses of CBD are most helpful.

Learn why Naia customers rely on CBD to get to sleep, and find out which CBD products are most popular for sleep. Along the way, discover when to take CBD for help sleeping, and learn the proper CBD dosage for sleep.

Based on customer feedback, does CBD help with sleep?

We were inspired to ask our customers about CBD and sleep by a recent clinical study. In this study, 72 adult patients with poor sleep were administered CBD over the course of multiple months.

This pioneering clinical research into CBD and sleep delivered promising results. However, further clinical studies will need to be conducted to definitively determine if CBD is truly useful for sleep.

In the interim, we decided to do our own research. Here are the primary results of the questions we asked our customers:

Is CBD useful for sleep?

Does CBD help with sleep? Many of our customers report that CBD helps them sleep. Some of these customers have dealt with sleep issues for years, and others reported that using CBD led to better sleep quality even though they were using this cannabinoid for other reasons.

Does CBD help with REM sleep?

Our customers are convinced that CBD helps with sleep. Since most of them aren’t trained sleep scientists, however, they can’t tell us much about the effect of CBD on REM sleep.

According to a 2018 clinical study, CBD does “not alter normal sleep architecture.” This evidence indicates that CBD has no impact on the amount of time you spend in REM sleep.

A 2012 laboratory study, however, delivered slightly different results. Anxiety can block REM sleep, and this research found that CBD had an impact on “anxiety-induced REM sleep suppression.”

More research will need to be done to determine if CBD is useful for REM sleep. It seems likely, however, that CBD at least doesn’t have a negative effect on REM sleep duration.

What’s the best way to use CBD for sleep?

Based on the information we’ve received from our customers, ingesting cannabidiol in tandem with melatonin is the best way to use CBD as a sleep aid. Some CBD products geared toward sleep already contain melatonin. If not, this substance is easy to use as a standalone supplement.

Our customers tell us that using CBD with melatonin helps them fall asleep and stay asleep. According to customer testimony, ingesting these two substances together doesn’t cause a feeling of grogginess in the morning.

Customers also report that using CBD with cannabinol (CBN) offers impressive results. They tell us that CBN provides the most calming sensation of any cannabinoid. As a result, they also CBN for anxiety and panic attacks as well as sleep.

What is the most popular CBD for sleep?

To answer this question, we didn’t need to consult our customers. We simply needed to take a look at our internal sales metrics.

We did, however, ask customers who have tried these three products what they liked most about them. Learn which Naia CBD gummies and tinctures are the most popular for sleep:

Canna Hemp Sleep Elixir

Canna Hemp CBD Elixir Sleep 1000mgThis simple tincture mainly consists of MCT oil and CBD oil. The main reason we think our customers consider Canna Hemp’s Sleep Elixir the best CBD oil for sleep, however, is this tincture’s terpene content.

Dozens of terpenes have been discovered in Cannabis sativa, and each of these non-intoxicating compounds has unique effects. The terpenes present in Canna Hemp Sleep Elixir boost the flavor of this tincture, and they also modulate the effects of CBD.

For instance, the terpene delta-3 carene has been researched for its sleep-inducing effects. Other terpenes present in Canna Hemp Sleep Elixir, such as linalool, terpene, citral, and myrcene may also offer sleep-promoting benefits.

Charlotte’s Web Sleep Gummies

Charlotte's Web Sleep Gummies 6 pack pouchWhile they don’t contain any notable concentrations of sleep-inducing terpenes, our metrics indicate that Naia CBD customers view Charlotte’s Web Sleep Gummies as the best CBD gummies for sleep. Charlotte’s Web is one of the nation’s most trusted CBD brands, and our customers tend to gravitate toward this company’s products.

We like these gummies because they contain melatonin in addition to full-spectrum CBD and natural flavoring. Charlotte’s Web Sleep Gummies contain simple ingredients, and they’re sweetened with tapioca syrup and beet sugar,  making these gummies arguably  the most delicious CBD gummies in the world.

CBDfx Gummies with Melatonin

Canna Hemp CBD Elixir Sleep 1000mgCBDfx recently updated these gummies to contain 50mg CBD per gummy. Each gummy also contains an ample dose of melatonin to help you get to sleep.

Since CBDfx Gummies with Melatonin contain broad-spectrum CBD, they’re THC-free. These gummies also contain passion flower, chamomile, and lemon balm, which are all commonly used as herbal sleep aids.

What is the recommended CBD dosage for sleep?

We’ve learned a lot about the effects of CBD from customer feedback. We also know a lot about CBD dosage from our own experience. Here’s our expert opinion on how much CBD you should take when you want help sleeping:

CBD Gummies

If your CBD gummies are boosted with melatonin, you might only need to consume 10mg CBD in gummy form to experience the desired effects. Without melatonin, your sleep gummies should contain 30-50mg CBD.

CBD Oil

We’ve found that 30-50mg works best when taking CBD tinctures for sleep. Our customers agree.

CBD + CBN

CBN boosts the effects of CBD. As a result, lower doses of CBD tinctures for sleep remain effective if they also contain CBN. A dose of 10-30mg might be sufficient when using a CBD + CBN tincture for sleep.

When should I take CBD for sleep?

Wondering when to take CBD for sleep? The answer varies depending on the type of product you use.

A considerable percentage of the cannabinoids present in CBD tinctures are absorbed underneath your tongue before you swallow. As a result, CBD oils for sleep usually take effect within around 5-15 minutes.

The CBD in gummies, however, is only absorbed through your digestive tract. Therefore, it takes around 30-60 minutes for CBD gummies to take effect.

Try taking a CBD tincture just a few minutes before going to bed. With gummies, take your bedtime CBD at the beginning of your wind-down routine.

Finally, do you recommend taking CBD daily for sleep?

CBD often provides the best effects when taken regularly. Our customers report, however, that they develop minor tolerances to CBD the more of this cannabinoid they take.

If you already use CBD during the day, we suggest that you ingest twice your daytime dose before going to bed. For instance, a person who takes a 25mg dose of CBD during the daytime should use 50mg CBD for sleep.

Increase or decrease your nightly dose as necessary. Ask a doctor if you have any questions about how much CBD you should take for sleep or any other purpose.
